The Spark: Thandiwe’s Vision
In 2023, Thandiwe Banda, a third-generation herbalist from Lilongwe, grew frustrated seeing Malawi’s botanicals exported for pennies. She spent 18 months perfecting a small-batch hair elixir with local farms. By 2025, Botanical Oil Ltd has empowered 12 women-led cooperatives while keeping production in Malawi.
